October – November 2023

October and November see several high-profile premieres hit the Piccolo’s stages:

L’interpretazione dei sogni – An original work by Stefano Massini freely inspired by the writings of Sigmund Freud. This intriguing drama runs at Teatro Grassi in October.

I Promessi sposi alla prova – A new production of the beloved play by Andrée Ruth Shammah honoring Alessandro Manzoni and Giovanni Testori comes to Teatro Studio Melato in October.

Il racconto del Vajont – Actor and storyteller Marco Paolini revisits his acclaimed show about the devastating Vajont dam disaster. This limited run comes to Teatro Strehler in October.

La pulce nell’orecchio – Director Carmelo Rifici helms a madcap new production of a French farce by Georges Feydeau for November’s lineup at Teatro Strehler.

Diari d’amore – Acclaimed director Nanni Moretti makes his theatrical directing debut in November with two pithy works by Natalia Ginzburg at Teatro Grassi.

Winter & Spring 2024

Highlights of the winter and spring months include:

A Christmas Carol – Teatro Strehler will unveil a lively dance and music adaptation of the Charles Dickens holiday classic in December 2023.

La vedova scaltra – Carlo Goldoni’s spirited 18th century comedy will be revived under director Maria Grazia Gregori at Teatro Grassi in early 2024.

The Father – Florian Zeller’s critically hailed drama about dementia comes to Teatro Strehler in a production directed by Andrea Chiodi and starring Umberto Orsini in March 2024.

La tempesta – In June 2024, Carlo Colla & Figli will recreate Eduardo De Filippo’s Tempest for marionettes at Teatro Grassi, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Eduardo’s passing.

July 2024 Season Finale

The season concludes in July 2024 with a new take on the commedia dell’arte classic Arlecchino servitore di due padroni. The show will introduce a fresh cast of young actors when it debuts at Teatro Grassi.
